Anxiety? Procrastination? Stress Eating?
Do you feel stuck in patterns that keep you from living your life?
In the chaos of our everyday lives, we often run on auto-pilot finding ourselves caught in unhealthy habit patterns. These habits rob us of happiness, health, sleep, and connections with family, friends, and even ourselves. While mindfulness has been around for thousands of years, recent research has helped us understand how it works in the brain and has discovered the pathways that make the practice of mindfulness effective in habit change.
You can unlearn your habits.
Mindfulness Based Habit Change (MBHC) is based on the work of researcher and addiction psychiatrist, Judson Brewer, MD, PhD. Integrating both ancient wisdom and new learnings from modern science, Dr. Brewer developed a step-by-step approach to habit change demonstrated to be effective with smoking cessation, stress eating and currently studied with anxiety. You can learn more in his Ted Talk – click here.
After co-leading an online group with Dr. Brewer for the past year, I am excited to be offering an in-person group. MBHC is an 8-session program aimed at teaching you to:
- Identify triggers and be aware of your habit loops
- Bring mindfulness to your experience to explore the results of your actions
- Practice mindfulness and kindness as aides to being present
- Tune-in to the effects of healthy, life sustaining habits
- Discover freedom of choice based on your experience
Participants will receive electronic materials including guided meditations, worksheets, articles and links to podcasts. Recommended reading: The Craving Mind: From Cigarettes to Smartphones to Love – Why We Get Hooked and How We Can Break Bad Habit by Judson Brewer.
