The Kali Work:
Transforming the Drama Queen into the Warrior
A DEVI YOGA unTRAINING RETREAT with Suzin Green
Asana with Claude Winn
Sunday, January 29, 2017
The Drama Queen is well known in mythology and fairy tales. We meet her on stage and screen, in fiction and poetry. We need not look to story however to find her. Man or woman, she’s active inside each one of us. The Drama Queen feeds on drama, making whatever situation it fixates on worse as it tricks us into buy-in of psycho-emotional narratives that keep us down.
Enter the goddess Kali. The Kali Work is a re-boot for body, heart, and mind. Personified as a warrior goddess, Kali is the inner power of truth. The Kali Work draws us more deeply inside ourselves, unraveling patterns that no longer serve us, while aligning us with our innate clarity and power.
Join us for a day of Kali Work devoted to tricking the trickster into dropping the drama. Of redirecting its power into something much more interesting and profound: fearless embrace of life. Yogic meditation, chanting, and teachings combine with asana and creative arts process to transform the Drama Queen into the Warrior.

A note about Devi Yoga unTrainings…
Devi Yoga unTrainings are liberating programs designed to “untrain” us from whatever and whomever keeps us bound.
Most of us are bombarded from an early age by images and ideas of who and what we think we should be, with little or no regard to who and what we actually are. Encouraged to seek meaning and validation outside ourselves, we’re trained to deny the truth of our own experience. By the time this training is complete, we’ve lost touch with our essential wholeness and mastered the art of giving our power away.
The Devi Yoga unTraining is a process of reclamation designed to dismantle this limiting way of being, shifting our perspective from small self to great. From this stance, anything is possible.
unTraining days include guided meditation and chanting, uplifting teachings, reflective art-making, and a joyous sense of community.

Meet Suzin Green and Claude Winn
Suzin Green has been on the yogic path for nearly 40 years. A classically trained pianist, she fell in love with mantra and the wisdom of Yoga in 1977 when she met Baba Muktananda and became a student of Siddha Yoga. The nearly two decades she spent in this tradition form the foundation of her work as a musician, teacher, life coach and healer. Today, Suzin’s work integrates yogic meditation and chanting with sacred psychology and the arts. Her signature grit, humor, and insight distill complex yogic philosophies down to their essence, offering timeless wisdom for living the best that we are.
Suzin has long believed the unifying feminine vision of interconnection, partnership, and embrace offers essential medicine for humanity. This belief combined with her respect for the psychological depth of India’s Goddess tradition inspired her to develop the Devi Yoga unTraining. One of the early voices of the American Kirtan scene, Suzin continues to teach and perform nationally. Please visit www.suzingreen.com to learn more about her work.
Claude Winn’s approach to asana is informed by her work as a painter. She combines Devi Yoga inspired meditation and visualization with physical yoga, seamlessly weaving alignment-based refinements and organic movement. Claude’s work provides a serene counter-balance to the non-stop activity of daily life, a terrain she knows very well as a mother of two children and a working artist. Claude has been co-teaching unTraining retreats with Suzin since 2005.
